So, to kick things off, lets talk about Live Art....
What is Live Art? and what will a weekend full of Live Art performances be like? What should we expect, and why should we turn up to see it?

What is art...?

I would expect a strict definition of Live Art to be work that prioritises the role of the artists body in relation to an audience, perhaps this is a legacy from from a nomenclature constructed to describe works that were distinct from other forms of artistic production.
I think that to an extent these definitions have collapsed, and that Live Art as a discipline can accommodate work that does not contain the physical body of a performer.
a comment I read in Art Review that somehow sums it up for me...
"Our good fortune as humans is to live in an infinite world, which is to say, a secular world of unlimited possibilities. Art is the best tool we have when it comes to shattering our environment in to an infinite number of imaginery tales, forms and space-times. "
Live art is like normal art but its...well....live
"An all-encompassing definition is almost impossible, but to put it at its simplest, live art contains a living element, a human presence - a body (or bodies) in space and at a specific moment, or for a definite period. However, it becomes very complicated when historians try to categorise and pigeonhole such a diversity of work. Take an installation that requires a human presence to activate of complete it - could this be defined as a performance?" Adrian George, cited in Art, lies and videotape:exposing performance
